Gummy Smile – Muskelrelaxans Treatment as a Solution for Prominent Gums While Smiling

A gummy smile, or excessive gum exposure, is an aesthetic issue where the gums are overly visible when smiling. This problem is often caused by various factors, the most common being the excessively high position of the upper lip.

This condition arises from excessive tension in the muscles around the mouth, particularly the intense lifting of the upper lip.

Botulinum toxin, or Muskelrelaxans, is a mild and effective treatment that allows us to target and weaken these muscles. The result? Your upper lip no longer rises as sharply, and your smile appears more natural without the excessive display of gums.

Our doctors bring over 14 years of experience, knowledge, and passion for aesthetic medicine to help you achieve a natural and beautiful look.

HOW IS THE TREATMENT PERFORMED?

After a detailed consultation and examination, Botulinum toxin is carefully injected into the area responsible for lifting the upper lip. Botulinum toxin works by blocking the release of acetylcholine at the neuromuscular junction, inhibiting muscle contractions.

The action of Muskelrelaxans is localized only at the injection sites. Injections are done using very fine needles, making the treatment completely painless. After the treatment, patients can return to their normal daily activities. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis.

Due to the very short duration of the treatment (about 15-30 minutes) and its painlessness, Muskelrelaxans treatments are considered “lunch break treatments” and can be performed during a lunch break.

WHAT RESULTS CAN BE EXPECTED AFTER THE GUMMY SMILE TREATMENT?

For “Gummy Smile,” the muscles responsible for lifting the upper lip when smiling will be relaxed. This leads to less visible gums when smiling. The effects become noticeable within 2-4 days, and the maximum effect is achieved within 7-10 days. The final results are visible after 14 days.

HOW LONG DO THE EFFECTS OF MUSKELRELAXANS LAST?

The effects of the treatment last for about 4 to 6 months. It is recommended to repeat the treatment 2-3 times per year. With repeated treatments, the muscles reduce over time, extending and improving the aesthetic effects of the treatment.

WHAT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED BEFORE AND AFTER THE TREATMENT?
