Upper Arm Tightening

Welcome to our clinic in Munich! With us, beauty becomes a personal journey, and we offer advanced aesthetic skin treatments tailored to your individual needs.

The desire to tone sagging upper arms can arise for various reasons:

  • Many people find toned upper arms more aesthetically pleasing and feel more confident when they are satisfied with their appearance. Toning the upper arms can improve skin elasticity, resulting in a smoother and firmer look.
  • For some individuals, sagging upper arms can also lead to functional limitations, especially if the skin is extremely loose. Tightening can enhance functionality and increase comfort.
After weight loss, toning the upper arms can help achieve a lasting improvement in appearance.

Sagging upper arms can have different causes, and the desire to tone them may stem from both aesthetic and functional reasons.

Here are some potential causes of sagging upper arms:

  • Aging: As we age, the production of collagen and elastin in the skin decreases, which can lead to a loss of skin elasticity. This natural process can cause the skin on your upper arms to become looser.
  • Weight Loss: Rapid weight loss or a significant reduction in body fat can result in excess skin, including on the upper arms. If the skin isn’t given time to adjust to the new body shape, it may remain loose.
  • Genetics: Genetic predisposition plays a role in skin structure and elasticity. Some people may be genetically prone to sagging skin.
  • Lack of Physical Activity: A sedentary lifestyle can result in insufficient muscle tone in the upper arm area, affecting skin firmness.
  • Sun Exposure: Excessive sun exposure accelerates skin aging and contributes to loss of elasticity, including on the upper arms.

Upper Arm Tightening with PDO Threads

The use of mesothreads in upper arm tightening, also known as thread lifting, is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure designed to lift and firm sagging skin. These absorbable threads are inserted under the skin and help support and lift tissue. They are often coated with substances like polylactic acid or PDO (polydioxanone), which stimulate collagen production. Collagen is essential for skin strength and structure. The stimulation of collagen production improves skin firmness and elasticity.

Thread lifting also enhances skin texture—especially beneficial when elasticity has been lost due to aging or weight loss. Compared to surgical procedures, thread lifting offers a natural look, minimal downtime, and quicker recovery.

What Are Mesothreads?

Mesothreads are biodegradable surgical threads long used in cardiovascular and other medical procedures. Their proven effectiveness makes them a top recommendation for non-surgical lifting of the face and body.

What Does Upper Arm Tightening Involve?

This non-surgical procedure begins with a detailed consultation with a qualified specialist to determine your needs and aesthetic goals. Local anesthesia is applied to minimize discomfort. The doctor inserts the threads through tiny punctures using very thin needles (0.30–0.40 mm). The threads, equipped with small barbs, anchor the skin and form a lifting network.

As the threads are absorbed (within 6–9 months), they stimulate collagen and elastin production. The effect becomes more pronounced over time, leaving skin tighter, firmer, and rejuvenated. The procedure typically lasts 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the treatment area.

Afterward, the treated areas are covered with sterile bandages. You will receive post-treatment instructions, such as avoiding intense physical activities for a time. Most patients can resume daily activities shortly after the procedure.

Combination with Lipolysis

For patients with excess fat in the upper arm area, thread lifting can be combined with fat reduction using lipolysis—an injectable treatment that dissolves localized fat cells.

When Can Results Be Expected?

Initial results are visible immediately, with full effects developing 2–3 months post-treatment as collagen production increases.

Possible Side Effects

You may experience a sensation of tightness, burning, mild swelling, or bruising. These effects are generally temporary and subside within a few days.

Post-Treatment Care for Thread Lifting

Avoid sun and tanning beds, harsh exfoliation, massages, strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot baths after treatment—standard precautions for anti-aging procedures.
