Laser scar treatment

Treating scars with creams and ointments is common practice, although it often yields only limited visible results. A far more effective method is applying laser therapy to treat scars. This approach involves directing light pulses onto the skin, stimulating scar tissue removal and promoting collagen production.

A significant advantage of this treatment is that the newly formed collagen fibers help tighten lax connective tissue, resulting in lasting skin tightening. Thus, this method not only reduces the appearance of scars but also rejuvenates the skin.

It’s important to note that the efficacy of laser therapy and the results achieved may vary depending on the type of scars and individual skin characteristics.

Is laser scar treatment suitable for me?

Laser scar treatment is suitable for everyone. If you feel your scar is unsightly or you suffer from lax skin, this method is definitely right for you. We offer a personal consultation where we can discuss all laser scar–treatment options tailored to your individual case.

What does a laser scar treatment look like?

First, a thorough consultation is conducted with one of our experienced physicians. Then, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the skin area to be treated.

A specialized laser delivers microscopic light pulses precisely to the skin. These targeted pulses gradually transform scar tissue. The laser works at the cellular level, enabling a painless remodeling of the scar. This process aims to improve the structure of the scar and reduce its appearance over time.

A key feature of this procedure is the stimulation of collagen production triggered by the laser. Collagen is the essential structural protein responsible for skin elasticity and firmness. Increased collagen synthesis promotes regeneration of skin tissue—meaning we not only treat the scar but also enhance overall skin quality.

This treatment is designed not only to achieve aesthetic improvements by reducing scars but also to promote skin health and vitality. It’s important to note that most patients experience the procedure as painless, though individual sensitivity may vary.

How many sessions are needed?

Each session lasts about 20–30 minutes. You’ll notice positive changes in your skin after the first treatment. However, skin regeneration takes time to reach its full effect—typically three to six months before the full benefits become visible. To achieve optimal results, we recommend a series of two to five treatments spaced about three months apart. Additionally, an annual “touch-up” session is advised to maintain long-term effectiveness and skin health. This schedule ensures maximized aesthetic improvements over time.

Is the treatment painful?

Our clients often describe the procedure as painless. Upon request, we are happy to apply a soothing cream to the treated area.

Are there any risks or side effects?

After laser therapy, you may experience mild swelling and redness, followed by temporary dryness, stiffness, and roughness. For this reason, regular use of a moisturizing cream is recommended. These side effects typically subside within 3–7 days and become barely noticeable.
