Keratosis Treatment consultation

Treatment Overview

Keratoses include different forms of abnormal keratin build-up. Some are benign, while others need further medical treatment. Only after diagnosis can we determine whether CO₂ ablation is appropriate or whether tissue needs to be examined.

Keratosis Treatment treatment

Who is this treatment suitable for?

Rough, thickened or repeatedly irritated areas are examined first. Only after the type of keratosis has been established can we decide whether removal is appropriate or another treatment is needed.

Keratosis Treatment safety

Safety and Tolerability

The diagnosis is clarified before removal, including whether tissue examination may be required. We discuss the risks of infection, delayed healing, scarring, pigment changes and damage to surrounding tissue with you. The extent of treatment, protective measures and aftercare depend on the location of the lesion.

Treatment Process

The type of rough skin lesion, its development and any recent changes are assessed carefully. We tailor the plan to the treatments suitable for you and how well your skin tolerates them.

Preparation and Aftercare

Before the treatment

Tell us about any changes in the lesion, previous skin findings and medications. Change prescribed medication only after medical advice. Please report new bleeding, rapid growth or inflammation before the appointment and do not attempt to remove the lesion yourself.

After the treatment

Use the recommended wound care and sun protection on the treated area. Do not pick at crusts. Recurrent thickening or new changes should be examined again, and worsening symptoms require prompt medical review.

Results

Healing is monitored according to the diagnosis. Skin colour and the appearance of any scars continue to change over approximately 2–6 months. Further steps depend on the diagnosis and whether the lesion recurs.

The small wound may initially be tender, red or mildly swollen, and a crust can form. Minor bleeding is possible. Increasing pain, redness or discharge requires medical assessment.
