At DIVINE Medica in Munich, CO₂ laser skin tightening targets mild laxity accompanied by changes in skin texture. The laser treats small areas of the skin surface and stimulates collagen remodelling. The aim is smoother, firmer-looking skin, with recovery carefully planned.

CO₂ skin tightening consultation

Treatment overview

Fractional CO₂ laser treats small, separate areas of skin. The tissue between them supports healing. The combination of controlled tissue removal and heat can soften fine lines and improve texture and firmness.

CO₂ skin tightening treatment

When might this treatment be suitable?

Treatment may be suitable for mild laxity accompanied by rough skin, fine lines or certain signs of sun damage. Skin type and our assessment determine the intensity. You must be able to allow time for the necessary wound care and recovery.

CO₂ skin tightening safety

Safety and tolerability

Before CO₂ laser treatment, we carefully assess your skin type, tendency to develop pigmentation changes and wound healing. Infection, herpes reactivation, persistent pigmentation changes and scarring are complications rather than expected surface healing reactions. We explain the treatment and risks in relation to your skin, provide suitable eye protection and plan your aftercare.

Treatment process

Your CO₂ laser plan balances the desired degree of skin renewal with a recovery period suited to your skin type and daily routine.

Preparation and aftercare

Before the treatment

Before CO₂ laser treatment, please tell us about medications, allergies, wound healing, previous laser treatments and any history of herpes. Only change prescribed medication after consulting your doctor. Avoid tanning before treatment and discuss any irritating skincare products you use. Infections, open areas or unexplained skin changes must be assessed beforehand. We decide individually whether preventive treatment for herpes is appropriate.

After the treatment

The treated surface needs the recommended wound care and consistent sun protection. Do not pick off crusts or peeling skin. Your aftercare plan will explain when you can use make-up and potentially irritating skincare products again, resume exercise and expose your skin to heat. Please report increasing pain, signs of inflammation, blisters or fever promptly.

Results

Once the skin has healed, the surface may look smoother. We assess initial changes over approximately 4–8 weeks and further collagen remodelling over 3–6 months. How long the improvement lasts depends on skin condition, treatment intensity, skincare and ongoing ageing. Any repeat treatment is based on your actual progress.

Answers to your questions about treatment, results and aftercare.

Fractional CO₂ laser treats small, separate areas of skin. The tissue between them supports healing. The combination of controlled tissue removal and heat can soften fine lines and improve texture and firmness.

Treatment takes approximately 30–90 minutes. After the initial healing phase, changes may become visible over 4–8 weeks; further changes in skin structure are assessed over approximately 3–6 months. The degree and duration of improvement vary from person to person.

Pain relief is planned according to the area and intensity. The pain level of 2–3 out of 10 is a guide and may vary from person to person. Depending on the treatment, allow approximately 1–3 weeks for initial healing. Redness may last longer. Wound care and when you can resume your usual activities depend on how your skin heals.

CO₂ laser may be suitable for mild laxity accompanied by fine lines or rough skin. Skin type and available recovery time guide planning. Afterwards, tailored wound care, leaving crusts undisturbed and consistent sun protection support healing. Avoid exercise and irritating skincare products for the period advised by your doctor.

Downtime and Swelling

Downtime and Swelling

Recovery time: depends on intensity and area; the initial healing phase may take approximately 1–3 weeks, and redness may last longer.

Common side effects

Common side effects

Redness, swelling, warmth, oozing and fine crusts may occur during the initial healing phase. The surface may peel as the skin renews. How your skin heals and how long recovery takes depend on the treatment intensity and area treated; worsening symptoms require a follow-up assessment.

Combination Options

Combination Options

Additional injections or energy-based treatments are discussed only once the skin has healed sufficiently. After CO₂ laser treatment, restoring the skin barrier and using well-tolerated skincare are the initial priorities.
