If your skin looks tired or uneven despite good skincare, SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® may help improve skin quality. The finely distributed hyaluronic acid gel is injected directly into the skin. It can soften fine lines, improve hydration and help the complexion look fresher. At DIVINE Medica in Munich, your treatment plan is created during a personal medical consultation.
Treatment Overview
SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® contains cross-linked hyaluronic acid and lidocaine. It is injected into the skin to treat superficial fine lines and support skin quality, hydration and elasticity. The focus is on smoother, more supple skin.
Who is this treatment suitable for?
SKINVIVE may be suitable for adults who want less noticeable lines and a fresher-looking complexion. Depending on our assessment, suitable areas can include the face, neck, décolletage or hands. The eyelids are not treated. We assess your skin to determine whether the product is appropriate for your concern.
Safety and Tolerability
Before SKINVIVE, your medical history and possible contraindications are reviewed individually. The product is not used during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or in patients with an allergy to any of its ingredients, particularly lidocaine. Skin infection or inflammation in the target area also rules out treatment there. Other medical conditions and medications require individual assessment.
Mild swelling, small bruises or tenderness may occur temporarily after injection. These should be distinguished from infection, persistent nodules and allergic reactions. Rare vascular complications can seriously affect tissue or vision and require prompt medical treatment. Your doctor explains these risks in relation to your treatment during the consultation.
Bruising, swelling and tenderness can occur. Less common complications include infection, persistent lumps and allergic reactions. Accidental injection into a blood vessel can cause tissue damage and, in facial injections, serious visual complications.

Treatment Preparation
The selected skin areas are carefully cleansed and disinfected. SKINVIVE contains lidocaine for pain relief; additional local anaesthesia can be arranged if needed. We plan the injection sites according to your skin thickness and fine lines.

Treatment
Small amounts of gel are injected into the agreed areas of skin. Placement is based on your skin condition and the product instructions, while your comfort and the immediate skin response are monitored throughout.

Review of Results
After treatment, the skin response and product distribution are assessed. You receive a personalised aftercare plan; at a later follow-up, changes in smoothness and overall skin quality can be reviewed together.
Preparation and Aftercare
Before the treatment
Please tell us about medications, allergies and previous injections, especially any intolerance to lidocaine. Do not stop prescribed medicines on your own. Herpes, infection or inflamed skin should resolve before treatment, and recent laser or peel treatments are considered when scheduling your appointment.
After the treatment
Aftercare depends on the treated area and the product instructions: no make-up for 12 hours, and no sauna or prolonged sun, UV or cold exposure below 0°C for two weeks. Only rub or massage the treated area if instructed; we agree with you how long to avoid exercise. Severe pain, unusual skin discolouration or visual symptoms require immediate medical attention.
Results
At a follow-up after around four weeks, changes in skin quality can be assessed. Manufacturer information describes improvement in fine lines and skin smoothness for around six months, while improvements in hydration may last for up to nine months. Some study participants received an additional treatment after 30 days. The degree and duration of improvement vary from person to person.

Common Side Effects
The skin may temporarily be red, swollen or tender at the injection sites; itching and small bruises can also occur. Nodules or discolouration should be medically assessed. If symptoms worsen or signs of inflammation develop, please contact the practice promptly. Severe pain, unusual skin discolouration or visual symptoms require immediate medical attention.
Combination Options
SKINVIVE can be incorporated into a personalised treatment plan. Laser treatment, deep chemical peels and dermabrasion should not be performed at the same time. Injections are also avoided after superficial peels that have caused a marked inflammatory reaction. Your doctor determines how long to leave between treatments.
