What is PRP for Skin and Hair?
PRP is platelet-rich plasma prepared from a small amount of your own blood. The concentrated platelets it contains release growth factors involved in the body’s repair processes. At DIVINE Medica in Munich, we use PRP for selected skin treatments and to support existing hair follicles. We discuss whether it is suitable for you based on your goals and medical assessment.
What does PRP for Skin and Hair entail?
After taking a small blood sample, we prepare the plasma in a centrifuge. We then inject it with fine needles into the agreed areas of skin or scalp. You may feel brief pinpricks or mild pressure. Local anaesthetic is available depending on the treatment area and your needs.
Applications of PRP for Skin and Hair
For hereditary hair thinning, PRP may support existing hair follicles and improve hair density. It may also be considered for selected concerns about skin quality. The possible improvements depend on the treatment area and the condition of your skin or scalp before treatment; we explain what you can realistically expect.
Safety of PRP for Skin and Hair
PRP is prepared from your own blood under hygienic conditions. Temporary sensitivity, mild swelling or small bruises may occur after treatment. Before treatment, your doctor will explain other possible side effects and any risks specific to you.
Before and Aftercare
Please tell us in advance about any medical conditions, particularly blood or clotting disorders, current infections and your medications. Existing test results relating to hair loss may be helpful. Change prescribed medication only after seeking medical advice.
Treat your skin or scalp gently at first. Avoid rubbing the injection sites and follow your personalised guidance on skincare or hair products. If symptoms persist or worsen, please contact the practice.
Effects develop gradually. For skin treatments, we assess changes over several weeks; for hair growth, over several months. Comparable photographs help us track changes over time and plan further appointments with you.
