RF microneedling of the scalp combines fine needles with controlled radiofrequency energy. At DIVINE Medica, we assess the cause of your hair loss and your suitability before planning this complementary treatment.

Consultation using a skin and hair-follicle model

Treatment Overview

RF microneedling of the scalp delivers brief pulses of heat at selected depths in the scalp. We assess whether this stimulation may complement established treatment for hereditary hair loss. Early studies of combination treatments are promising, but the evidence remains limited. The procedure is therefore not suitable for every type of hair loss. Treatment goals, the choice of device and its settings are determined specifically for the scalp.

Explanation using a skin anatomy model

Who is this treatment suitable for?

RF microneedling may be considered as a complementary treatment in selected cases of hereditary hair thinning. Inflammatory, scarring or sudden hair loss requires an assessment to identify the cause first. Scalp thickness, the presence of hair follicles and previous treatments also affect suitability.

RF Microneedling for the Scalp safety

Safety and Tolerability

Needle depth and energy settings are carefully adjusted to suit your scalp and the results of your assessment. Before treatment, your doctor explains possible side effects and more serious risks, including infection, pigment changes, burns, scarring and injury to fat tissue or nerves. These are possible complications, not expected treatment effects. An individual consultation and coordinated aftercare are part of your treatment plan.

Treatment Process

The procedure follows a treatment plan designed specifically for your scalp. We select suitable areas, needle depth and energy settings before treatment and coordinate the procedure with your ongoing hair-loss treatment.

Preparation and Aftercare

Before the treatment

Please tell us about implants, medications, previous scalp procedures and any wound-healing problems. Change prescribed medication only after seeking medical advice. Active inflammation or infection is treated first. We also discuss when to pause and resume using potentially irritating scalp products and when any other procedures should take place.

After the treatment

Use gentle scalp care at first and avoid touching the small treatment marks. Follow your personalised aftercare plan regarding when you can wash your hair, exercise, expose your scalp to heat and resume using topical hair products. Blisters, severe pain, increasing inflammation or persistent changes in sensation should be medically assessed promptly.

Results

We assess changes in your hair over several months using comparable photographs. An initial review may take place after 2–3 months; monitoring over 6–12 months can also be useful. Current evidence does not allow us to predict how much hair growth RF microneedling may produce. Further appointments depend on your progress.

During treatment, you may feel warmth, pressure or brief stinging. Appropriate anaesthesia helps make the procedure more comfortable. Allow 0–2 days for recovery, although some treatment marks may remain visible for longer. Your doctor will explain what to expect during recovery and when a review may be advisable.

Common Side Effects

Common Side Effects

The scalp may be temporarily red or mildly sensitive after RF microneedling. Small needle marks, bruising or mild swelling may also occur during recovery. Your doctor will explain which reactions to expect and how to care for your scalp.

Combination Options

Combination Options

Where appropriate, RF microneedling is coordinated with established treatment for hair loss. For topical medicines such as minoxidil, we provide individual advice on whether to pause treatment and when to restart it. Combination treatment is used selectively and does not replace treatment of the underlying cause.
