Fractional CO₂ Laser Treatment consultation

Treatment Overview

Fractional CO₂ laser treats small, separate areas of skin while leaving surrounding tissue intact to support healing. The combination of controlled ablation and heat stimulates remodelling processes that can soften the appearance of wrinkles and certain scars.

Fractional CO₂ Laser Treatment treatment

Who is this treatment suitable for?

The treatment may be suitable for more pronounced wrinkles, certain types of sun damage and selected scars. Your skin type and the recovery time needed help determine the treatment intensity, while any unexplained skin changes are assessed first to establish a diagnosis.

Fractional CO₂ Laser Treatment safety

Safety and Tolerability

Skin type, tendency to develop pigmentation changes and wound healing are considered before laser treatment. Infection, herpes reactivation, delayed healing, scarring and persistent colour changes are not expected short-term healing reactions and require appropriate assessment. Appropriate eye protection and personalised aftercare are part of the treatment plan.

Treatment Process

We consider the improvement you would like alongside your skin type, tendency to develop pigmentation changes and the time you can allow for healing. We tailor the plan to the treatments suitable for you and how well your skin tolerates them.

Preparation and Aftercare

Before the treatment

Tell us about any medications, allergies, herpes, previous procedures or problems with wound healing. Do not change prescribed medication unless advised by a doctor. Avoid a fresh tan; infections, broken skin or unexplained skin changes will be assessed before treatment.

After the treatment

The treated skin needs the recommended wound care and consistent sun protection. Do not pick at crusts, and pause skincare products with potentially irritating active ingredients and strenuous activity as advised. Please contact us promptly if pain increases, blisters develop or there are signs of inflammation.

Results

Initial changes may become visible after 2–6 weeks. Surface texture and firmness can continue to improve as collagen remodelling progresses; the overall result is better assessed after 3–6 months. How much improvement you see and how long it lasts vary from person to person.

Local anaesthesia helps reduce discomfort, although warmth, burning or tightness may still be felt during treatment. Local anaesthesia is required. Expected downtime is around 5–14 days. Redness, swelling, warmth and fine crusting or flaking may occur during the early stages of healing. Depending on the treatment intensity, slight oozing may also occur. Worsening symptoms or signs of inflammation should be medically assessed.
